Housing Register

Tameside Housing Advice operates the Council’s Housing Register. Tameside Council, and Tameside Housing Advice do not have any properties of their own, but may be able to nominate you to one of the Social Housing Providers within the Borough. The Register is open to people who are eligible for reasonable preference for rehousing within the Social housing Sector. To see if you qualify for inclusion on the Register, please contact us at Housing Advice.

It should be noted that the housing register receives a limited amount of housing stock and demand for these properties is high. Applicants will not necessarily be housed immediately and waiting times can be quite considerable. Therefore you should be realistic about your housing options and consider alternatives too such as renting in the private sector or purchasing a property if you have the means to do so.

The time it takes to be permanently re-housed will depend on the size of property required, the areas you are able to live, the demand for accommodation in that area and your support needs.
